Work Related Back Pain

When you commence Pilates classes that focus on strengthening your core muscles, you can begin the transition out of back pain. As your your core strength and core stability improve, the intensity of your back pain can be reduced. You will also benefit by being able to gradually increase the flexibility of your spine in a controlled way, and to improve the range of motion of your joints.

Progressing your core strength with the Pilates reformer is now considered by many health professionals to be the first-line venue for both core strengthening and for achieving a meaningful reduction in back pain.

In addition to the reformer the Pilates Corealign is now establishing a reputation as a  leader for building a stronger core. It is not yet widely in use in Pilates studios in the UK but is very popular in the USA and Australia. In our north Leeds studio the three Corealigns continue to gain popularity and are delivering impressive results for our back pain clients.

Research studies have concluded that core strengthening exercises and improved flexibility in the lumbar spine can significantly reduce chronic low back pain (1). Another study has reported that Pilates exercises can reduce work related chronic low back pain (2).
